FLOUR POWER

Gluten-free sufferers everywhere can now rejoice because we’ve found the answer you’ve all been waiting for!

Cassava flour is an amazing grain-free and wheat flour alternative that can be substituted 1:1 in recipes. Hallelujah, we hear you say!

But what is cassava flour? Cassava (also known as yuca) is a root vegetable grown in over 90 countries and is a popular ingredient in African, Asian and Latin American cuisine. When cassava is dried and ground, it turns it to the perfect grain-free and wheat flour alternative.

Think of all the cookies, cakes, breads and pastas you will now be able to eat thanks to cassava! It’s naturally gluten free, grain free, nut free and because it’s a root vegetable, it ticks the vegan, vegetarian and paleo boxes too!

The only downfall about cassava flour is the cost. As you can imagine, it’s a lot pricier than standard flours, but it might be worth it if you’re a long-time sufferer of gluten intolerance or you prefer a paleo diet.

If you’re in Australia, Three Spades is an Australian grower of cassava. You can find out more and buy some of their flour here.
