Although you might know Gymboree as a kids’ clothing store, did you know they also have Play and Music centres, which are franchised worldwide?  Gymboree run classes for the under 5s, designed to foster “creativity and confidence” and help kids develop their cognitive, physical and social skills, all through play!

Why is it such a big deal?

It’s a chance for parents and caregivers to get involved in developmental play activity.  Gymboree has been around for about 30 years, and sure, it might look like a lot of waving of hands, laughing and singing, but the specialist teams there collaborate with experts in child development to produce the programme of classes.  And with research behind it, we know it’s good. The classes are designed for a number of age ranges, for example, the class for 9 – 16 month olds focuses on communication, balance and coordination, whereas the class for 3 – 4 year olds helps to prepare them for school

We love it because…

There’s a real emphasis placed upon providing a safe environment for kids to learn and develop.  And it was started by a mother who, unable to find an appropriate environment for her and her kids to play and learn together, started her own programme!  Which is the kind of enterprising spirit that you’ve got to salute.  And they run kids’ parties too!
