Juice It!

Fresh juices, especially vege juices, are packed with vitamins and if you choose the right ones you’ll be on your way to looking and feeling better, before you know it. Chlorophyll, the green pigment in plants, helps oxygenate the blood, creating increased brain function and physical energy. Juices are also absorbed by the body quicker than eating the same amount of vegetables, so it’s a great energy boosting trick (better than soft drinks … and vege juices are low, low, low in calories – bonus!)

Here’s our three favourite recipes, all designed with something special in mind.

Super-Veg Energy Booster

This savoury concoction is specially designed to give you a natural energy boost.  It will also curb your appetite, perfect for those moments when you would have reached for the chips instead!

  • 8 carrots
  • 1 stalk of celery
  • ¼ beetroot
  • 1 tomato (blanched)
  • 1 small bunch parsley
  • 1 small bunch spinach
  • ½ cucumber (skin optional)

Green Cleansing Machine

Clean out your junk from your system and give your body a spring clean with this green juice. This one is actually my favourite. If you can I would try to include this in your diet as often as possible. It’s an acquired taste I know, but once you get used to it, you’ll love it … and you’ll love how good it makes you feel … and look!

  • 2 stalks of celery
  • ½ cucumber
  • 1 apple (preferably green!)
  • Small chunk of ginger
  • ½ green chard leaf
  • 1 small bunch coriander
  • 5 kale leaves

Increase your Immunity

Feeling a little under the weather? Prone to coughs and colds?  Then this is the one for you – give your defence systems a hand!  Put the garlic in first and build the other ingredients around it – you might need an additional apple, depending on how strongly you can taste the garlic!

  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 small beetroot
  • 2 apples
  • 1 orange (no peel!)
  • Medium chunk of ginger
