Low Calorie Cocktails

If you’re trying to lose weight, the festive season can be really tough! And empty calories in the form of cocktails can be one of the worst culprits when it comes to Xmas weight gain.  But it doesn’t need to spoil your night or your figure– and to prove it here’s our top 3 drinks for the diet-conscious, and our top 3 to avoid!

The Good

The pick of the bunch is a Gin & Tonic at only 90 calories, but if you use diet tonic then this is reduced to a barely-there 40!

A Moscow Mule, with vodka, ginger beer and lime is also a good choice at 120 calories, and is very refreshing!

A Mojito, with sugar, lime, muddled mint & light rum is a delicious classic weighing in at only 120 calories!

The Bad

The Pina Colada, with rum, coconut cream and pineapple juice – it might remind you of an island holiday but stay away! This offender comes in at a whopping 590 calories! That’s more than a Big Mac!

A Mud Slide, with Vodka, Kahlua, Bailey’s and milk – ouch, this comes in at 555 calories!  You could have 2 slices of Pizza Hut Stuffed Crust Super Supreme Pizza for less than that!

The Ugly

And the winner is…. the Mai Tai – There’s a whopping 620 calories in this mix of dark & light rum, Crème de Almond, triple sec, sweet and sour mix, and pineapple juice.

swiish tip: Avoid anything with milk, or with creamy liqueur; use diet mixers wherever possible!
