Pamper Your Pooch

We love our pets; they’re absolutely another member of the family. And just as we all love to get pampered, your pooch also deserves treats and luxuries from time to time in order to feel special. Here are a few ideas to help you spoil your beloved fur-ball!

Sparky's Doggie Treats

Whipping up these little treats for your canine friend isn't just a creative way to pamper your pet. It also means that you know you’re feeding them something tasty and wholesome. They will absolutely love these biscuits and will no doubt be hovering in the kitchen once they smell what’s cooking in the oven!

You will need:

  • 60g All-purpose flour
  • 65g Corn flour
  • 70g Cornmeal
  • 65g Smooth peanut butter
  • 120ml Water
  • 40ml Vegetable oil
  • 1/2 Egg
  • Cookie cutter

What to do:

  1. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius. Whisk together the flour, corn flour, and cornmeal in a mixing bowl. Lightly grease one baking sheet.
  2. Place the peanut butter in a microwave safe dish, and cook in the microwave a few seconds at a time until the peanut butter has liquefied. Stir the peanut butter, water, vegetable oil, and egg into the flour mixture until a stiff dough forms. Roll out onto a floured surface and cut into treat shapes with a cookie cutter. Place the treats onto the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven until golden, which should take around 10 to 12 minutes. Allow the treats to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Store in an airtight container.

Puppy “Peticure”

Why not arrange a day at a local supplier to give your pooch a few little pampering treatments? With a professional wash, dry, dental brushing and maybe even adding a splash of colour to your pup’s nails, they will be in heaven! Some suppliers also offer dog massages. This is a wonderful way to pamper your pup, because just like humans, dogs hold stress in their muscles. A massage can increase circulation, promote flexibility and help them to de-stress. Your pooch will love a day like this – who wouldn’t?!

Nom Nom Nom

We all love accessories! And what dog wouldn’t love a new bowl for their water or food? Since dog bowls are essentially an extension of your home décor, keeping your dog’s bowl stylish yet fun is a great way to show your personal style, as well as your dog’s! We love the colourful and chic range by Felli Pet and the customizable bowls at Café Press.

Lounging Around

Your pup will be totally stylin’ with a Molly Mutt dog bed. These beds are a quirky and environmentally friendly way to make your dog a new bed. Essentially, you just take any old clothes or bedding you have lying around at home, and fill a special waterproof liner sack (also available from Molly Mutt) with these items. You then cover this with a Molly Mutt duvet, which come in some very cute or chic patterns and designs. It’s a fab way to keep old textiles out of our landfills, as well as give you a bit of extra room in your closet, plus – you will have one happy pooch to boot.
