The Winter Scarf

Yep, winter is definitely here! We’ve previously brought you our list of winter essentials but we want to hone in a little on that humble winter accessory, the scarf.

The thing that I love most about scarves is that they can completely transform an outfit. For what is essentially a long piece of fabric or knitwear, they can take your outfit from basic to chic in one quick movement. Whether you wrap it, loop it, tie it or swoop it, no two styles are ever exactly the same.

Stay warm and get inspired with our swiish style guide:

You can’t go wrong with a classic! Whether it’s sticking to basic colours, or opting for a traditional plaid, you can always count on these scarves to go with every outfit, from season to season. Alexa Chung rocks this style with a traditional black and grey checked scarf over a simple camel coat - so chic!

A Pop of Colour

Just because winter is dark and grey, doesn’t mean your outfit should be. Brighter than bright scarves can add instant colour and wow-factor to your outfit - just like Blake Lively.

Lady Like Silk

Were you inspired by our swiish Fashion Masterclass on Ladylike style? Get the look this winter with silk scarves. A silk scarf will not only keep you warm, but add a sense of femininity and sophistication to your outfit. Enhance the ladylike style with a pair of silk pants like Christina Hendricks (from Mad Men).

Go big or go home! This trend is all about exaggeration. A big scarf is a great option for mixing up your basic outfits. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley nails the look, styling-up her casual jeans and t-shirt combo with an oversized, aztec print scarf.

Animal Print

There is something very timeless and chic about animal print. Paired with a plain white tee à la Jessica Alba... perfection!

Double Up

Feeling more adventurous? Try doubling up like Heidi Klum. Not only will it be warmer, but the contrast of the scarves creates an eye-catching effect. When choosing scarves, go for ones that have similar tones or textures so that they complement each other. Remember, it’s a bold look so keep the rest of the outfit simple.

Shop the look at Witchery, Portmans, ASOS, Urban Outfitters and Topshop.
