You know those days where you feel like you’d rather walk across hot coals than have to get up and look in the mirror?  Don’t worry, we’ve all been there!  But unfortunately, how you feel when you wake up can end up affecting your confidence and mood levels for the entire day.  Wouldn’t it be nice to wake up feeling like a million bucks for a change?  Well you can!

I’m no natural morning person (at least until I’ve had my coffee and my Super Green Smoothie!) but I've gotten better at waking up almost every day feeling good. How? For me, it comes down to having a routine. Just a few little steps each night that have had a big impact on the way I look and feel in the morning. 

Here are my top tips to help you wake up feeling refreshed and looking like your gorgeous self.


Yeah yeah, you’ve heard it all before, but it seriously helps! If you are constantly going without enough water, it won’t be long before you start to see the effects on your skin.  Under-hydrated skin quickly gets tight, dry and flaky and is more prone to wrinkling, especially when your face is pressed in a pillow all night!

Try to drink at least 2 litres of water each day and keep a bottle by your bed at night.  I find the easiest way to get all that water in is to make it taste great!  I do this by infusing fruit into my water in a mason jar and taking it everywhere I go.  Here’s one of my favourite recipes:

Strawberry Basil & Lime Infused Water

  • 4-6 strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • ½ lime, sliced
  • Small handful of basil, scrunched
  • Ice and cold water


  1. Fill your mason jar to the top with ice and fruit. Slightly scrunch up the basil so it releases its flavor. Cover with cold filtered water. Let the water infuse for at least 1 hour before drinking!

Washing your hair every day can be a pain, especially if you’ve got a whole lot of it!  It also takes up a lot of time that most of us don’t have.  Most importantly though, its just not necessary!  Washing your hair too much can strip your scalp of all those natural oils it produces that keep your hair healthy. 

If you think you can go without washing, opt for a dry shampoo instead.  This stuff is seriously a miracle!  I personally love this Schwarzkopf Styliste Volume Dry Shampoo because it adds a little volume too. I apply before bed and comb through so that I wake up with clean, fresh, bouncy locks!  It’s also super affordable too.

Yea, it’s winter all right… and for most of us that means pale, ghostly skin.  Don’t worry though, there’s a way to fix this!  I love to add a little fake tan to my moisturiser to maintain a fresh, subtle glow throughout winter.  Just apply a little bit before bed, wash off any excess in the morning and viola! 

My favourite one to use is this natural self-tan lotion from ModelCo because not only does it give you that lovely bronzed look, but it’s also made from skin-loving ingredients like cocoa butter and goji berries and free from parabens, sulfates and pegs.

Although we sometimes forget about them, those delicate little areas between your fingers and toes are often the first areas of our skin to start drying out and cracking.  Ouch!
