When should I take it?
For maximum effectiveness, take SLEEP Superfood Powder approximately 20-30 minutes before bedtime. It’s also important to avoid all devices (phones, iPad etc) and TV. Research has shown that the blue light emitted from these devices causes the brain to stop producing melatonin (the hormone that regulates sleep patterns).
Can I have it in a liquid other than milk?
Yes, you can also have it with hot water. Some people love it, while others prefer the more creamy taste of having it in milk.
Will I wake up groggy?
No, SLEEP Superfood Powder does not contain any sedatives or pharmaceutical drugs. It’s an all-natural powder, effective because the ingredients naturally contain melatonin or help the body produce its own melatonin. This means that you are working with the body and therefore that terrible groggy feeling that you get with many pharmaceutical medications shouldn’t happen.
Can my child have it?
We created this SLEEP powder with adults in mind. Having said that, the powder is all–natural, so we are leaving it up to parents to decide for themselves what is best for their children.
Can I have it while pregnant or breastfeeding?

SLEEP Superfood Powder is formulated using a blend of natural superfood ingredients that help improve the quality and quantity of sleep. Many factors can disrupt sleep including loud noises, blue light/devices, caffeine and even stress. These hinder the natural production of melatonin — your sleep hormone — meaning your ability to fall asleep, enter the deeper stages of rest, and stay asleep throughout the entire night may be compromised. The issue with taking synthetic melatonin supplements is that it overrides the body’s natural melatonin production, causing it to forget how to continue this important process. This is why melatonin support using natural superfoods is an effective long-term option.
There are specific superfoods that not only contain natural forms of melatonin, but also help the body produce it. Tart Cherry is a prime example of this, hence why it’s the main ingredient in our SLEEP Powder. There is an amino acid known as tryptophan in Tart Cherry that is a precursor (meaning it’s involved in the production of) of melatonin (for sleep) and serotonin (your happiness hormone). Clinical evidence also suggests that a primary function of melatonin in Tart Cherries is also as an antioxidant, helping protect the cherry from oxidative stress. This works two–fold, as melatonin doubles as a potent antioxidant in the human body, assisting with anti–inflammation, skin health, reducing free radicals, and supporting the body against oxidative damage.

Improved Sleep Quality and Quantity
In another major 2012 study on Tart Cherry and melatonin synthesis, it was found that supplementation increased circulating melatonin levels in the body, improved sleep time and quality, elevated total melatonin content, increased total sleep duration, reduced daytime napping, and improved sleep efficiency in total by 82.3%.

The SLEEP Powder is an all-natural aid designed to assist the body - the ingredients contain melatonin and also assist the body in creating melatonin, so that your body naturally starts to prepare itself for sleep. You may already be aware, but the way that melatonin works is that it is a hormone produced in the pineal gland, predominantly in the evening, with production peaking in the middle of the night and then falling again just as the sun comes up. Melatonin is directly connected to our circadian rhythms which regulate our sleep cycles.
The SLEEP powder, given its role in melatonin production, should help you to drift off and wake without feeling groggy. It also is designed to help regulate those sleep cycles on a longer term basis.
It’s hard to say definitively why the powder hasn’t worked for you, however it’s possible that there is something at play that could be impacting the effectiveness of the SLEEP powder.
There are a number of things which can affect sleep in general - these can include magnesium deficiency (a lack of magnesium can disturb natural circadian rhythms and interfere with the natural function of melatonin), or a lack of Vitamin D (low levels can lead to insomnia and interfere with the quantity and quality of sleep), sleep apnea, stress, medication etc.
It would be worth having a chat to your health care professional to see whether he / she feels there is another factor at play for you. Hopefully then you can go back to enjoying the SLEEP powder and its benefits at a later date, or as part of a more specific night time routine designed by your health care professional.
